VAL PATTERSON
(CREATOR + PHOTOGRAPHER)

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Val Patterson has always been drawn to and intrigued by the iconic female figures of Hollywood. “I love the dreamy look & feel of vintage, cinematic portraits of women from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s. The simplicity and timelessness of those classic portraits are a big influence on my work. My Mona Lisa – inspired photographs document and portray the different aspects and layers of The Female Archetype. These portraits honor the past, present and future of women in Hollywood, Politics and Pop Culture, which are major sources of inspiration throughout my photographic journey.”

PERSONAL STATEMENT:
Given the chance to delve into the fascinating lives of these fifty icons, I took the literary liberty to fictionalize much of what I saw when I was down there, meeting them face to face. And oh, what beautiful characters they are.
